AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A group of young Ghanaians from the country’s Islamic seminary met with Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, during his visit to the West African nation at the invitation of Ghanaian religious figures.
In the meeting, Ayatollah Ramazani spoke about various branches of Islamic jurisprudence, explaining, “Fiqh is divided into different categories. For instance, ‘minor fiqh’ pertains to rulings such as prayer, fasting, and enjoining good and forbidding evil. The intermediate level addresses ethics and moral virtues and deals with interpersonal conduct across different areas. ‘Major fiqh’ relates to doctrinal beliefs. We must draw upon all these branches of jurisprudence to purify our souls.”
Citing Islamic traditions, Ayatollah Ramazani stressed that self-knowledge is considered the highest form of knowledge. “We must embark on a spiritual journey towards the reality of monotheism, allowing Tawheed to manifest in all our actions. Even our studies must be for the sake of God. We need to reflect deeply on divine teachings and religious rulings, and at the same time, discipline our souls.”
The Secretary-General emphasized the necessity of spiritual discipline, stating, “God grants His knowledge to those who discipline their souls. Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said that knowledge is a light which God bestows upon whomever He wills to guide. Grand Ayatollah Bahjat (r.a.) used to say that knowledge comes after action, which is derived from this noble Hadith of the Infallible Imam (a.s.). God imparts the knowledge of what one does not know to those who act upon what they do know. In truth, knowledge is a light that shines upon human hearts; its essence is illumination.”
